So now you know how to become a corporate flight attendant and even how to get the job, but hang on.. Do you know what you’re expected to do? Where does the food come from, where is the aircraft, what food should you serve, what’s the difference between that big fork and the little one. Why is there no oven on the aircraft you’re supposed to fly on, why are the pilots grumpy because you didn’t bring them anything. Where’s all the plates and glasses the last flight attendant said she used and how on earth are you going to serve 10 people on a 1 hour 15 minute flight!!?
Thank God for YouTube, Flight Attendant courses and naturally, The Corporate Flight Attendant’s Handbook and Checklist.

Whether you’ve come from an airline background or never had any previous flying experience, this will be new to you. You are often expected to think of what food to serve your passengers yourself. Order it yourself and make sure it arrives on time and in the correct place. If it doesn’t, there’s only one person the company will blame.
How about plating the food and making it look like it does in a 5 star restaurant. The people you will be serving are used to seeing some incredibly well presented food. Do you know the difference between an espresso macchiato and a cappuccino?
How do you stop the sandwiches going dry within 10 minutes in a pressurised cabin, how do you deal with unhappy clients, why won’t the microwave start.. There’s definitely enough that can go wrong if you haven’t had any training or read the right book on the subject.
An airline background is truly valuable when it comes to knowing safety procedures, first aid and knowing what to do when something goes wrong. The truth when it comes to working on a corporate or private jet however, is that you’d be better off having worked 3 months in a 5 star restaurant serving fine dining and watching the chefs plate, garnish and put together various gourmet foods. We have trained and worked with people from all sorts of backgrounds wanting to get into corporate flying. Yacht crew, airline cabin crew, restaurant waiter, FBO staff and people with absolutely zero hospitality experience. The good news is, it doesn’t matter what your background is, what matters is finding the right information before you start your journey, being motivated and finding the right course or book to guide you through.
If ever there was a job that requires you to think on your feet, find a solution to every problem and to trust yourself and your gut, this is it. It’s not always easy, the best things in life aren't, but it’s an incredible way to see the world and get paid to so.
Look at The CFA Connection, Jamie Gibson aka Flightess, local courses in food plating and presentation near where you live and of course our 150 page handbook with everything you need to know to get through a day on the job. Whether you have had training or have experience, you wouldn’t be human if you didn’t forget things. We have made a separate 14 page checklist that’s included for free when you buy the handbook. There’s a checklist for every stage of your day on the job. Even after 20 years doing the job, we use our own checklist on every flight.
As a special thank you for reading all of the 3 blogs on “How to become a corporate flight attendant, how to get hired and how to do the job..” We have created a 20% off code for The Corporate Flight Attendant’s Handbook and Checklist. Use code “Itstime” at checkout ;-)
